Learning English Beyond the Classroom
Nowadays, with the growing popularity of smartphones and computers, an increasing number of students are choosing to learn English beyond the classroom in various ways.
It can easily be seen that the percentage of students who choose listening to English songs and watching English movies is respectively 65% and 50%. However, those choosing reading English books and visiting English learning websites only account for 18% and 12%.
As far as I’m concerned, any way suits us best is a good choice. However, it is also recommended that more importance should be attached to students’ self-discipline when having entertaining English activities beyond classroom. Only in this way can students cultivate a positive attitude in learning English.
在课堂之外学习英语
如今，随着智能手机和电脑的日益普及，越来越多的学生选择在课堂之外以各种方式学习英语。
很容易看出，选择听英文歌和看英文电影的学生比例分别是65%和50%。然而，选择阅读英语书籍和访问英语学习网站的只占比18%和12%。
就我而言，任何最适合我们的方式都是一个好的选择。然而，也建议在课堂外进行娱乐性英语活动时，更应重视学生的自律。只有这样，学生才能在英语学习中培养积极的态度。

Do middle school students help with housework on weekends?
A survey on whether middle school students help with housework on weekends has been conducted recently. As is shown on the chart, the majority of the students surveyed do housework on weekends, accounting for 91.5%. By contrast, the students who never help with housework account for 8.5%. 20% of the students spend over one hour on housework while 71.5% of them work for less than an hour.
It is good news that most students surveyed do housework. By learning basic skills, middle schoolers can know how to live independently. I hope parents encourage their children to do more housework.
中学生在周末帮忙做家务吗?
最近进行了一项关于中学生周末是否帮忙做家务的调查。如图所示，大多数被调查的学生在周末做家务，占比91.5%。相比之下，从不帮忙做家务的学生占8.5%。20%的学生做家务的时间超过一个小时，而71.5%的学生做家务的时间不到一个小时。
好消息是，大多数被调查的学生都做家务。通过学习基本技能，中学生可以知道如何独立生活。我希望父母鼓励他们的孩子多做家务。

Voluntary Work Really Counts
Last weekend, the School English Paper conducted a surveyamong the schoolmates to find out their involvement and preference in voluntary work.
The result shows that only 16% of the students often do voluntary work. Among them, 47% of the volunteers prefer community welfare work, which ranks the first. This is followed by fundraising, taking up 32%. Next come offering tutoring and training and protecting the environment, with 11% and 10%respectively. From the charts we can see that although society offers us a variety of chances to volunteer, the majority of the students show no interest in it.
From where I stand, doing voluntary work is a win-win choice, which not only enriches students' extracurricular life, but also beautifies the society. Voluntary work really counts.
志愿工作真的很重要
上周末，学校英语报在同学中进行了项调查，以了解他们对志愿工作的参与程度和偏好。
结果显示，只有16%的学生经常做志愿者工作。其中，47%的志愿者更喜欢社区福利工作，排名第一。其次是募资，占比32%。其次是提供辅导培训和保护环境，分别占11%和10%。从图表中我们可以看到，尽管社会为我们提供了各种各样的志愿者机会，但大多数学生对此并不感兴趣。
在我看来，做志愿者工作是一个双赢的选择，它不仅丰富了学生的课外生活，也美化了社会。志愿工作真的很重要。
